Our goal is to move the culture of the Fellowship towards environmental justice and sustainability.
We aim to provide a structure for our Fellowship to examine our current environmental impacts and move towards more sustainable practices grounded in Unitarian Universalism. Green Sanctuary (GS) is a unique opportunity for deep congregational growth and transformation through a commitment to make every aspect of congregational life as sustainable and environmentally responsible as possible. This comprehensive program educates congregations about their environmental impact as institutions and individuals. Action plans seek to increase building sustainability, improve congregational practices, and create relationships within the wider community. Our efforts will be found within:
- Inter-Generational Religious Education
- Sustainable Living events
- Worship and Celebration themes
- Environmental Justice projects
Once we have completed enough successful projects with measurable results, we will document and then apply to the UUA to receive Green Sanctuary Accreditation, hopefully by 2019. You can help by volunteering on Green Sanctuary projects or simply participate in the events as they are announced. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or ideas to support our goals.
