The purpose of the Smiling Dandelion Sangha is to provide a flexible structure in which to explore mindfulness and participate in meditation practices. Weekly meetings include sitting and walking meditation and discussion of various topics pertaining to meditation, mindfulness and Buddhism. There are also opportunities for more extended periods of meditation during periodic Mindfulness Days and an annual retreat. The group includes Buddhists and non-Buddhists and is open to anyone interested in its purpose, with any level of meditation experience. There is no requirement to be a member of the Fellowship to join us as we practice mindfulness.
Smiling Dandelion Sangha Annual Retreat – June 2019
The Smiling Dandelion Sangha will hold its 11th annual meditation retreat June 7-9, 2019 at Horizon Village in Oshkosh. Our retreat leaders are Janice Sheppard and Steven Spiro and the topic is ‘Roots and Wings: Grounded and Opened: Serenity and Insight.’ We will explore staying grounded in the body and breath at the same time we cultivate a heart and mind that is open and expansive. We will learn to recognize how the seeming opposites of grounded stability and open expansion and of serenity and insight can be balanced to lead to clarity, wisdom and peace. The retreat is suitable for both new and experienced practitioners, and offers a supportive environment close to home to learn and deepen our spiritual practice.
