Newcomer & Membership Information

We are so glad you are here

From Our Co-Ministers:

We are so glad that you are checking out the Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship!

We know that finding a new spiritual home (or your first one ever) can be a big deal. We applaud your taking this step to find a congregation to support and travel alongside you on your spiritual path.

Here are few suggestions for getting the most out of your exploration:

  • Come a few times to get a feel for our services. You can attend the informal, conversational 9 am coffeehouse during the program year, or the 11 am more “traditional” service in person or on Zoom (in the summer months that service is at 10 am). For more information visit the Upcoming Services page of this site.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask anyone, especially ministers or staff, if you have a question. No question is too small or too obvious. We’re here to help you get connected! Click here for our Staff Directory page.
  • Unitarian Universalism is a lived-faith: one that doesn’t just happen in our minds, but happens through our words and actions. We are committed to searching for truth and meaning in many ways and places. To learn more about Unitarian Universalism, who we are, and what we believe, visit our About Unitarian Universalism page or visit the other links, below.
  • Get involved! Almost everything at the Fellowship is available to you as a newcomer to the Fellowship. If you want to attend an event, sing in the choir, or participate on a team, go for it! Click the Adult Connections tab on this website to find out all the ways to get involved.

We are a friendly, inclusive community but we promise not to pressure you or bombard you with information. We look forward to welcoming you.

With love,

Rev. Christina Leone-Tracy & Rev. Hannah Roberts Villnave, Fellowship Co-Ministers

UU Connection Path

Our Engagement Hub team, Membership Team, ministers, and others lead sessions throughout the program year during Middle Hour (Sundays at 10 AM) as part of an ongoing series we call “UU Connection Path.”

UU Connection Path is all about helping newcomers (and anyone who wants to learn and deepen their connection) understand more about Unitarian Universalism and our Fellowship and find their place in this amazing community.

The series includes several sessions that will repeat as a series, and a few will be interspersed throughout to add more depth to your connection with Unitarian Universalism and our Fellowship. Click the button below to learn more about Middle Hour and see the schedule.

Our Mission Statement:
We welcome seekers,
build loving community,
and act courageously for justice.

Welcome from the Membership Team

Welcome to the Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship!

We welcome seekers from all spiritual paths and life experiences. You will find a lot of information about us on this website, but the best way to see what we are about is by attending a few services!

If you would like to chat before or after a service, we are happy to do so. Fill out this form to help us know more about you and what we can do to help you feel comfortable at the Fellowship.

We hope to meet you soon!

Joining as Member

If you have been attending the Fellowship for a while, you might find that joining as a member is the right next step for you. Joining the Fellowship is not required to participate in many of the activities here. Instead, becoming a member of the Fellowship means making a commitment to be a part of this community for the foreseeable future and to both give to and receive from this Fellowship.

Joining the Fellowship as a member means that you are:

  • At least 16 years of age or have completed the Fellowship’s “Credo” program.
  • Willing to support the Unitarian Universalist Shared Values.
  • Involved at the Fellowship for your own connections and spiritual journey, as well as by sharing your time and talent. Engagement and service are important ways to stay connected to the life of the Fellowship and to give to and receive from the community.
  • Committed to providing financial support to the Fellowship. Annual contributions to the operating budget are required by our bylaws for continued membership. Each member privately chooses the amount to give based on their personal financial circumstances, and a waiver of this requirement can be granted by a minister in cases of extreme financial hardship. For more information about the giving aspect of membership, click here.

How to Join:

We encourage all new members to have attended services for at least 6 weeks, and to attend at least 3 sessions of the UU Connection Path during Middle Hour. In lieu of UU Connection Path, a conversation with one of our ministers will meet that expectation.

Whenever you feel ready, simply reach out to one of our ministers to set up a time to join. It takes about half an hour to review the materials, sign the membership book, and take your photo for our New Member bulletin board (no online posts, we promise).

The ministers can be contacted at 920-731-0849, or by emailing christina@fvuuf.org or hannah@fvuuf.org.
