I Will Not Let You Go Until You Bless Me
by Rev. Ashley Horan
Our UU theology pushes back against the belief in an interventionist God who makes us suffer to make us stronger. How, then, are we to understand the problems, trials, and misfortunes in our lives that keep cropping up, again and again? Can there be blessing in pain and struggle?
Revs. Karen Hutt & Ashley Horan are partners in life and colleagues in Unitarian Universalist ministry. Karen serves as a Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisor and chaplain at the University of MN Medical Center – Fairview, and Ashley is the Executive Director of MUUSJA – The MN Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance. Ashley preached at the Fellowship a few times in 2013. They live in Minneapolis, MN, with their two children — Zi (16 years) and Aspen (16 months).
